Quick Facts
Overview
Hertz is one of the oldest car hire companies in the world, founded in 1918 and now operating in over 150 countries. At Paphos Airport, Hertz operates from the arrivals terminal catering primarily to two audiences: existing Hertz Gold loyalty members with pre-negotiated corporate rates, and business travellers with Hertz written into their company travel policy. For the leisure visitor paying standard rates, Hertz represents the worst value proposition in our 20-company Paphos ranking — the highest excess liability (€1,000–€2,000), charges for every extra, and among the highest total costs at PFO.
WhatsApp & Communication
No WhatsApp service. Hertz operates via the Hertz website, app, and phone. The Gold loyalty programme provides fast-track service for members at the terminal. Standard rate customers use the regular desk queue.
Pricing & Fees
Headline rates of €28–€95/day are among the highest advertised at PFO. The excess liability without CDW purchase (€1,000–€2,000) is the highest of any operator in our ranking. CDW to reduce the excess to zero costs €10–€30/day additional. Child seats, GPS, and additional drivers all carry daily charges. Total cost for a family week at Hertz can exceed €500 — roughly 2–3x the equivalent at a top local Paphos operator.
Family Features
Child seats available at daily extra charge. Baby seats and booster seats also charged. Fleet includes 7-seaters and prestige vehicles. Terminal desk means immediate collection with no shuttle. Credit card mandatory with high deposit block requirements.
Fleet & Vehicles
Hertz at Paphos Airport offers economy through to prestige and luxury vehicles. The fleet includes BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Land Rover options at the premium end — making Hertz one of the few PFO operators for visitors specifically seeking prestige brands. Economy and standard vehicles also available. Fleet vehicles are newer models maintained to Hertz global brand standards.
Booking Experience
Booking via hertz.com, the Hertz app, or aggregator platforms. Online pre-booking with Gold fast-track service available for loyalty members. Standard rate terminal collection involves desk check-in, credit card for deposit block (€1,000–€2,000), and rental agreement review. Hours at the Paphos desk are limited — typically 08:00–20:00. Late arrivals after 20:00 need to arrange with another operator.
Customer Experience
The Hertz Paphos customer experience reflects the global brand standard — professional and efficient for Gold status holders with fast-track collection and premium vehicles. For standard-rate customers, reviews reflect the familiar frustrations of international chain car hire: upselling pressure at the desk, surprise charges on the final invoice, and the cognitive dissonance of paying a premium price for service that local Paphos operators deliver better at a fraction of the cost.
Our Verdict
Recommended only for Hertz Gold members with corporate rates or visitors with a specific requirement for a prestige vehicle (BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover) that local operators cannot supply. For all other Paphos visitors, the cost differential versus local operators is too significant to justify.
